shimsha is a river that streams in the state of karnataka, india. it is one of the branches of the river kaveri, which is one of the main rivers of south india. the river initiates from the southern part of the devarayanadurga peak in the tumkur district of karnataka. it flows for about 221 km before linking with the river kaveri. shimsha originates at an elevation of 914 meters in the devarayanadurga hill which is also the site of two temples of the hindu god, narasimha (the man-lion).
