Jawhar is a hill station present at an altitude of 518 m in Thane district of Maharashtra. It is a tribal region and is known mainly for its vibrant Warli paintings mainly made by the original tribals of the region. 'Mahabaleshwar' of Thane district is the another name used for Jawahar. Jawahar has a rich historical heritage and amazing tourist sites to boast. Dadara Kopra Falls is a beautiful waterfront at a distance of 18 km from the city. During the monsoon season the fountain reaches a height of 100 ft or so. There is an old fort Bhopatgad situated 20km away from Jawahar. The old ruins of the fort, the decayed rocks revive a nostalgic sense in tourists.
