Kune Falls

Kune Waterfalls is one of the most famous Waterfalls in Maharashtra state which is located near Lonavala. This is one of the best picnic spots considered by the travelers. Kune Falls is a must-visit during the monsoons when the waterfall is at its peak. The height of the falls is measured to be around 660 ft. which makes it to be in the list of one of the highest waterfalls in India. Located at a distance of 70km from Pune, one can hire a taxi or cab for easy travel. Being on the best picnic spots, attractions here include trekking, photography etc. The waterfall is very beautiful during the monsoon and the place is greener and much pretty. There are other small waterfalls connected to this which makes a more greater view.

Karla Buddhist Caves

Karla caves also known as the Karli caves or Karla Cells is one of the most beautiful rock-cut chaitya in India. These ancient rock cut caves are believed to date back to 160 BC. Falling under the category of Buddhist Shrines/Rock Cut architecture, this cave located in the Karla town was created during the Satavahana Dynasty. Temples carved in natural cliff were especially well suited for Indian conditions and prescriptions of Buddhists. It is also believed that the first Karla Cave was a natural one but soon there followed man-made caves. These caves represent the highest achievement in the history of Indian Rock-Cut Architecture. Karla Caves are characterized by large horseshoe shaped windows which helps lighting the interiors. Part of the cave can be reached by the means of around 350 steps cut in the rock.

Lohagad Fort

The fort has a history of being occupied by several ruling dynasties over a period of time and are now protected by the government. Situated near the hill station of Lonavala and at a distance of about 50km from Pune, Lohagad rises to an elevation of 1,033 m above sea level. Lohgad Fort is a perfect example of ancient architecture and natural beauty. This Fort was built in the late 18th Century and is one of the best destinations for trekking and nature lovers. Other attractions include Hiking. The place is flanked by nature at its lush green best and hosts panoramic views and cool mountain air. Trekking would not be a tedious task with the average trekking time of about 3 - 4 hrs. A perfectly planned trip of 1 complete day to this Fort will definitely be worth a try.

Bedse Caves

Bedse Caves in Maval Talika, Pune, Maharashtra. Similar to the Karla caves, Bedse dates back to the lst Century BC and has a prayer hall with a stupa. Bedse Caves also known as Bedsa Caves is one of the most ancient caves located near Pune. This cave has been crafted in the Buddhist style of carvings. There are two main caves in Bedse caves which are Chaitya which is the place for worship and Vihara a place for the monks to stay. The entire area is cooled naturally by the spring-water tanks that are placed below the caves give a cooling effect. The best time to visit Bedse caves is the rainy season as the hills are filled with greenery. Many small waterfalls are created that can only be enjoyed during the rainy season. Timings for this cave is from 9 AM to 5 PM. One can directly reach the base of the caves by means of car and then hike few steps to land at the front of caves

Flowing down the Sahyadri Mountains from 322 metres, the Kune Waterfalls offers some stunning views amid the lush greenery. Kune Waterfalls is three-tiered and can be easily enjoyed by everyone.

Visapur Fort: Built by the first Peshwa of Maratha Empire, Visapur Fort is larger than its counterpart, Lohagad Fort. Inside the Visapur Fort, one can find temples, cisterns of waters, several small caves, and a few old houses. The trek which is considered easy will take you through lush greenery, waterfalls, and grasslands until you reach the beautiful foggy top.
