Tirupati Overview

Tirupati is located in Chittoor district in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is considered to be one of the most important pilgrimage sites and is half an hour away from the Tirumala Venkateshwara Temple. Thousands of devotees come to Tirupati to visit the Venkateshwara temple each day. Puzhal Aeri

Puzhal Lake or Red Hills Lake or Puzhal Lake, is located in the Thiruvallur District in Tamil Nadu. There is a tower here built by the British in 1881 called Jones Tower which is still used to measure the depth of the water in the lake. There is also Puzhal reservoir which was built in 1876.

Kailasakona Waterfalls

Located in Chittoor, is a lovely resting stop if travelling in groups. Sri Venkateshwara National Park This national park, close to the Tirumala temple, is a biosphere reserve which is home to sambar, spotted deer, grey langur and four-horned antelope. he water originates from a split in the mass rock. The water here is crystal clear having considerable mineral values. There is a small temple of Lord Shiva and Parvati near the waterfall.

Talakona Waterfall

The Talakona waterfall is in Sri Venkateswara National Park, Chittoor District of Andhra pradesh in India. With a 270 feet-fall, Talakona is the highest waterfall in the Andhra pradesh state. Talakona Waterfall is a high falling waterfall just outside of Tirupati. A part of the Sri Venkateshwara National Park, the waterfall is only accessible by foot and you’d have to walk about a kilometre to get there.

Silathoranam

Silathoranam is a beautiful place located on the way to Tirumala. This natural rock formation is a series of small boulders that seem to hang from the sky. The smaller boulders connect two large rock formations, making the view breathtaking. The rock formation is a national monument and is protected by the State Government. It is one of the best getaways in the city.

Chennai to Tirupati by Road

The distance between Chennai and Tirupati (by road) is approximately 135 kms. It will take 3 hours to drive up to Tirupati. This town is renowned for the Thiruthani Murugan Temple which is a place of worship for followers of Lord Murugan, son of Lord Shiva. The temple dedicated to Lord Muruga at Thiruttani attracts devotees from far and wide as it is a part of ‘Arupadai Veedu’ which are the six holy abodes of Lord Murugan.
