#60DaysOfSummer – Magnetic Hill at Leh

On the Srinagar-Ladakh highway, there is a natural optical illusion that has been blowing travellers away ever since it was discovered. Magnetic Hill is a must-visit for anyone who’s going to Ladakh from Srinagar or vice versa, whether or not you’re riding on your bike or taking out a car. Don’t forget to visit our things to do in Ladakh page for some exciting recommendations.

The illusion, that has so many travellers absolutely spellbound, makes vehicles look like they’re being rolling upward towards a hill (hence the name) even if they’re stationary. Though the illusion may have a simple enough explanation, we still recommend giving it a shot this summer.

And while you’re there, we do suggest taking the customary photograph of your family or friends in front of the Magnetic Hill board – send us these pictures, and we’ll be sure to share them on our Instagram page.

HOW TO GET THERE

Magnetic Hill is on the highway from Srinagar to Ladakh. The road is closed during winters. But if you’re planning a summer visit, you can’t miss the hill. You can also ask your cab driver to guide you to the spot.
