About Daringbadi

Daringbadi is a small and serene hill station in the Kandhamal district of Odisha. Location 

Daringbadi is located in the Kandhamal district, about 246KM from Bhubaneswar, 105KM Phulbani, 49KM from Balliguda, and about 30KM from Raikia.

Weather 

The weather here is usually cool and pleasant throughout the year. Summer temperatures range from 15 to 28 degrees Celsius, while the temperatures drop by a few degrees during the rainy season, between July and September. In winter, the temperatures range from 2 to 12 degrees. Rainfall is quite heavy in the region. Sometimes in winter, there’s frost formation in the higher elevation forests.

History

The place gets in name from a British officer of colonial rule. An officer named Daring Saheb was in charge of this region back in the day. Over the later years, the place came to be known as “Daring Badi” or village of “Daring” and eventually, Daringbadi as we know it today. 

Geography

Daringbadi lies in the southern part of the state, on the Eastern Ghats and the altitude of the hills rises to 3000 FT. The landscape is hilly and rugged and covered in pine forests, silver oak trees, coffee plantations, bamboo groves, ginger, pepper, and cardamom plants.

By Train 

There is no railway station in Daringbadi. The nearest rail service is in Berhampur Railway Station, 130KM away. You can travel from other major cities and towns in Odisha like Bhubaneshwar, Cuttack, Puri, Rourkela, etc., and neighboring states to Behrampur. From the railway junction, you can rent a car or book a local cab to drive you to this town.

By Road

The nearest major bus terminus is at Phulbani, 105KM away. There are regular state-run and private buses from nearby cities and towns in the state to Phulbani. From there, you’ll have to take the local transport or rent a car. The best way to travel to Daringbadi from anywhere in Odisha is to book a cab and do a road trip.

By Flight

There is no airport in Daringbadi. The nearest airport is in Bhubaneshwar, at Biju Patnaik International Airport Bhubaneswar, 290KM away. You can fly to Bhubaneshwar from any other city in the state or other cities in India. From there, you can take the airport taxi and drive down to Daringbadi.
